It doesn't sound as though there'll be the change I was hoping for regarding the coaching staff

If that is in fact the case, there'd better be some players heading outta town come fall!!!

The second and fourth line and the 3,4,5,6,and 7 th D and Luongo . You know just a tweak here and there.

Sounds like a total rebuild like the Oilers.

AV will not be fired... and here is why..... the Blues Got Swept under Ubercoach Ken Hitchcock.

At first blush, when LA took the Canucks out in 5 it seems there was something very wrong with us and not something very right with the Kings....

Now that SLB have been swept, it does not justify the Canucks loss but places it in a far better persepective.

AV stays.

My changes would begin in the top 6.

Kesler, Raymond and even Burrows (who'se spot seems to be filled just as easily as Anson Carter or Max Lapierre )... if the deal includes a Taveres or Nash or a Big D coming back.

amazing. After being within one game of the cup you would think only a minor tweak would be enough to get you over the hump (think Pitts). But I truely believe the Canucks weren't as good this past season as the 10-11 playoff team. What was done to make this a better playoff team? Nothing. Gillis needs to be held accountable for that.

Where do I start? I absolutely maintain my stance that the team is in need of a culture change, that starts with the coaching staff. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it's gonna happen....soooooooo

I'll start with the obvious. Raymond-Rome-Malhotra-Wiese-Ballard-Salo-Pahlsson.

Players to change the culture of the team. Burrows-Kesler-Edler-Bieksa-Luongo.

Obviously not all of them, but a combination of them!

Ian you hit the nail on the head right here:
Right now the Canucks have the personality of a librarian. They're more focused on books, structure, and order then they are in having fun. You see it in the coaching staff and you see it in the players.

While AV and the organization are far and away using statistics to dictate and develop strategy the other side is that it can have an adverse effect on players.

The team showed it's passion and desire this season against the Bruins in Boston but it was almost like that was it...'nothing left to prove'. AV needs to know when to let loose and when to pull in the reigns but more importantly what happened to the loose team?

Kesler was the photo/interview bomber last year. Bieksa did a prank late in the year but there was nothing keeping the team lose.

The fact is the Canucks can never win in the eyes of the media or many fans. Either they are not taking the game seriously enough or they are too serious and showing no passion.

The biggest mistake the organization made (all in hindsight I tell you) is that they let the let down of last year dictate their identity this year. The questioned what made them successful rather then questioning why they couldn't win 4 of 7 games in June.

For the CAnucks to be successful again they have to undo this year, regroup, recharge and reload but not forget what makes them a 'team' the one thing they didn't seem to have away from the ice this year.

I didn't give the Kings enough credit. I thought the Canucks beat themselves. After watching the St. Louis series I realized I was wrong.
I've never seen a coaching change have that big of an affect on a team in one season (Bylsma maybe). The players play the game but coaching still has a huge effect. It's undeniable.
